Jones: Could you please add my late father’s details to the Shaw
Saville website. He served on the SS Delphic from 1950 until 1961.
His name was Charles Edward Jones and he was the Engine Room Store
Keeper. He died in July 1967 in Cornwall.
Hi, came upon your site. Looking at my fathers log
book - certificates of discharge. He sailed with the Delphic 6
times. 27th July 1951 to 18th may 1953. He was William Luke
Gallacher 10th, 8th and 6th Engineer. This was his 1st boat. Also
sailed on the Cymric, Taranaki and Wairangi. I am sure his brother
Thomas may have sailed with Shaw Saville also. Died in 1987 at the

My father Lionel William Crouch, I believe he was
known to most people at this time as 'Bill' he was an Engineering
Officer and served on the SS Delphic in the mid 1950's.

My favourite uncle, Ian McPherson, was the chief
purser on board the Delphic, Taranaki, and Cymric between 1956-1960
for Shaw Savill Line. He died in 1993, was cremated, and his ashes
scattered in Liverpool Bay as requested.
Bryan Baker
Sailed on the Delphic from 1958 to 1963. Now aged 73 reside in
Alabama USA.

My father served on the Delphic during the war years. His name was
Richard Edward Cox and he was Chief Refrigeration Engineer.
