David Procter - The following is my record of time served on the Br Queen as J/E. Built 1959, was flag ship. 53 000dwt, 2 x Foster Wheeler ESD2 boilers, Pametrada turbines. Same power plant as the 42 000dwt ships, so underpowered at 14kn. Poor engine room layout, main condenser troubles.

Joined as apprentice, A/J/E from 22-12-69. Unusual layout with deck officers midships and engineers aft. Saloon and smokeroom also aft, so guess who wins! The first men landed on the moon as I crossed the equator for the first time! The Queen was the third ship that an apprentice or junior engineer had set fire to, do not remember a name or details. We were very cautious at Skaramanga, as the colonels junta dictating the country were on high alert about something. There was a navy base nearby and plenty of military activity.
