Roger Ryeland

Merchant Navy Cadet, travelled with Buries Markes bulk coal and grain vessels. He served his national service as 1st lieutenant and was 4th officer with Buries Markes.  In 1954 joined the family business George Hammond Shipping.

1957 he became an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers
1973 a Fellow of the Institute of Freight Forwarders
Representative of Lloyd's (Lloyd's agents for Kent)
Involved with the Shipwrecked Fishermen's and Mariners' Royal Benevolent Society, The Royal Alfred Seafarers' Society
Trustee of the British Sailors Society Prince of Wales Sea Training School.
Governor of Dover College
Governor and Director of Tormore School and Tormore Charitable Trust.
Governor of St Mary's Church of England Primary School, Dover.
Member of the Royal St George's Golf Club and The Band of Brothers.
